Designing Native Plant Communities

Designing Native Plant Communities

Crofton Village Garden Club members have access to more plant choices than ever before, including native species and their highly attractive cultivars. But awesome plants alone do not automatically translate into great planting. Instead, many well intended plantings fail on an aesthetic level or they may be difficult to maintain with available resources.

Have you ever asked yourself why your rain garden or butterfly habitat requires to much attention while wild plants seemingly thrive without any care at all? The answer lies in the way plants mingle and combine with one another.

Mark your calendars now for 6:30 p.m., November 20, 2014, to attend a presentation by Claudia West, the Ecological Sales Manager at North Creek Nurseries and a renowned speaker on the use of native plants in garden restoration. This event will be held at Arlington Echo, 975 Indian Landing Road, Millersville, Maryland 21108.

This presentation will dive into the fascinating world of wild plant communities and translate their core principles into hands-on design and management strategies. It is sponsored by the Chesapeake Conservation Landscaping Council and Anne Arundel County Watershed Stewards Academy.
