The 15h Annual Great Backyard Bird Count in Crofton

The 15th Annual Great Backyard Bird Count will take place from February 17–20, when bird watchers across the United States and Canada will tally millions of birds in the annual count coordinated by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, Audubon, and Canadian partner Bird Studies Canada.

No one expects you to sit at your window and count birds for four days. All you need is 15 minutes on one of the four days (or more, of course). Here’s how you can participate:

Garden Club Helps Out at Crofton Library

Crofton Library was a busy place on Saturday, November 6, with several worker bees from the Crofton Village Garden Club weeding beds near the main entrance and spreading mulch purchased by the club for the library. Veterans and new members worked side by side on this, one of our new community service projects. (Click on photo to enlarge it.)

Holiday Home Tour in Crofton on December 11

The Crofton Village Garden Club invites you to a holiday home tour on December 11, 2011. Seven homes will be decked out for the holidays, including the Chapman Farm Clubhouse, where refreshments will be served. Get your ticket by contacting Sally Moore at (410) 721-6759.

Fashion Show Tickets Now on Sale

Crofton Village Garden Club is throwing a party, and you’re invited!

The “Plant It Pink” Fashion Show and High Tea will be held on Sunday, May 2, at 1 p.m. at Crofton Country Club. Only 200 tickets will be available, so don’t wait until the last minute to contact a garden club member or Committee Co-Chair Pat Stevenson (301-261-0299) for your tickets.

Kristen Becker, Youth Activities Chair of the Crofton Village Garden Club, has announced the winners of our poster contest promoting fire safety and environmental protection. Tommy Rampulla is the 2nd grade winner with Poster #3 promoting Woodsy Owl and his slogan “Lend a Hand, Care for the Land.”
